“10-ish in the morning, then they are coming to service the air conditioning, remember?” “Yeah, I remember” “Okay” I couldn’t keep on chatting as the air conditioning service tried to call: “I’m mat saleh (whiteman/foreigner), I no speak Malay”. End. Whatsapp: “I’m mat saleh, I no speak Malay. What time are you coming?” “on our […]
My focus in this post is the obesity side of body shaming, while there also is the opposite site. Usually in form of anorexia or other severe forms of undernourishment, which often is life threatening. Also these patients, never. ever. shame them!
“You almost drove over it, she was just not under the bloody wheel” she replied as if I had lost my mind.
“It was a plastic bag, garbage, at least so it looked” I stuttered.
“Now we have a cat” she said with great content
I did not want to take that wiggling bridge again we took entering the docks I wrote about in Pt 3 of this series. In little boy’s excitement I did cross it once and that was more than enough! Still blown away of the ‘National Geographic’ walk we saw the main entrance and walked out, […]
Whenever you plan a travel, usually you plan with a certain expectation. Most of the time this expectation comes true and you have had a very nice travel but also, a couple of years later, you forget about it till you see the pictures back again. A more memorable travel is when the experience exceeds […]
Where your camera lenses are coming from? I’m just realising that Hadie is supervising quality control of glass products and perhaps a lens that you might have in your camera 😀 Either your real camera, like that thing not in your phone, or exactly that thing in your phone you just took a selfie with. […]
I was going there too taking some pictures and suddenly, as a little boy who sees the ocean for the very first time, stripping till my underwear and ran in the ocean!
Just because men have dicks they don’t have to show them (off) or act like being one!
So this one is for all women, and especially my woman, YOU ROCK!!!!
Slowly but surely I discover more and more about Malaysia and that’s terrifyingly amazing! To celebrate our anniversary we made a 3 day trip to the East Coast of Malaysia and the next few blog posts will be about that. It’s not like a diary style of writing, but more taking you with me through the most memorable experiences. This starting episode is about humans vs nature and the transition to a new comfort zone.
I am Dutch. And I seriously live a very good and content life here 10.000km away from the country I left. However. Some Dutch food I really always can eat or drink – Dutch coffee (have lots at home! Yeeeyyyy) and cheese (crap have none and import is too expensive lah) that is, and some comfort food […]
Today was such a day, at least, a part of it. Before I was home permanently in Malaysia, Hadie spend quite some time with her parents. That’s easy, it’s the same house, though we divided it in two parts. However, the garden we share and we basically all the time can hear from each other […]
In Paris is the metro with their typical entrances, the squeezing of rubber wheels, the typical sound of iron, the smell of piss, Paris, yesssss, you are a magnet attracting people from every corner of the planet!
Nasi – lema-what?? Let me explain. Mat saleh/matsaleh/how-ever-you-write-it, means…. me! Or, anyone with a white skin in Malaysia, either living permanently or a tourist or whoever. In another post I mentioned Malay, Malaysian-Chinese and Malaysian-Indian as main ethnic groups beside the original inhabitants, but, maybe Malaysian-matsaleh can be a minority ethnicity as well?!?! Anyway, there […]
I’m talking about not having Facebook anymore, not having Twitter anymore and not having Instagram anymore. A list of 7 experiences I have experienced after#deletefacebook
Somehow, no matter where I travel through Malaysia, getting to know my new country, everything revolves around food. I think I have mentioned food already in many posts about Malaysia and, true, many good moments are in presence of food! It was Friday. And on Fridays we always have our ‘cheat day’ from cooking ourselves […]
Many interesting questions will be answered. Why is one country developed and the other not? How does a country develop? What are some stigmas we shouldn’t have?
All revolves around….. Heat! That’s an obvious no-brainer, still it has its consequences in daily activities.
Are you ready for it?
After a long week it finally was Sunday. Weeks always feel too long, especially when there is work to do on the Saturday as well. After a week it is always longing to sleep in, to be in bed, to relax, to be comfortable laying in each others arms, looking at each other thinking “should we get up already”?
No. not yet, absolutely not yet. And our heads fell back on the pillow.
Since about a week (?) I started a new website I invite you to follow! Little Maryam! Healp Daniel, tell me more I’m already interested! Yeeey, thank you for being interested, I gladly tell you more! At home we have a garden. We already have mango, rambutan, coconuts, lime and bananas. Oh and Ayah, my […]
It was still before midday. The sun was out, not too warm, just yet, and it was quiet. That particular morning, a couple of days ago, to me a morning not to forget. My parents in law “gardening” and harvesting coconuts, to break them, and having nice coconut juice!
